Cyber Security Workshop

J&K police in association with HDFC bank organized a one day work shop on “Secure Banking and Fraud prevention” for police officers in Zonal Police Headquarters here Wednesday.

“The aim of the workshop titled “Secure Banking and Fraud prevention” in which scores of police officers from different districts of Kashmir valley participated was to provide better understanding of the latest trends of economic and cyber frauds that have evolved in resent past which could prove beneficial to them investigate such cases,” a police statement said.

Zubair Iqbal Circle Head J&K of HDFC Bank in his welcome speech said that in the past robbery and looting of banks were the only threats to the financial institutions that were heard about, but with the advent of digitalization of Banks and financial institutions the paradigm of these threats have changed. In order to counter such threats and safeguard the public money, the Banks and the law enforcement agencies need to work together to thwart such elements.

Nishant Jha and Tushar Dhar of Risk Intelligence and Control Team of HDFC Bank gave detailed presentations, the statement informed.

Nishant Jha gave in-depth details of the Loan and advance frauds and measures that the bank has put in place to avoid them. He said that HDFC Bank has the reputation of the least loses on such instances. Jha also discussed some case studies with the officers.

Tushar Dhar of HDFC Bank presented details of new evolving trends  of cyber and technological frauds including Phishing, Vishing, Smishing, Skimming, Over lay Keyboard and Card cloning. Tushar said that the rapid increase in digitalization in services including net banking has developed the quality of services for the people but with it new breed of fraudsters have also made their way.

SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar was the Chief Guest at valedictory function who unveiled a placard on the Secured Banking with Zubair Iqbal Circle Head J&K of HDFC Bank. In his brief address the SSP said that he was glad that such a workshop which is the need of the hour was conducted for the officers of the J&K police. He further stated that in view of the feedback of the officers it looks that the workshop has served its purpose. Later on SSP along with the Circle Head gave away the certificates to the participants.

Among others the programme was attended by Shashank Gaur, Amitabh Sharma and Waseem Khan of Risk Intelligence and Control Team of HDFC Bank. The programme was coordinated by SO to DIG CKR Manoj Pandita.
