SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday booked the headmaster of the Government Primary School in Koli Mohalla after he allegedly assaulted a male student in Class 4, resulting in a severe eye injury.
“A case has been registered under case number 63/2024 at BNS PS Pathkoot, citing sections 115(2) and 351(2) of the penal code,” an official told local news agency KNO.
The incident occurred in the classroom when the headmaster struck a student near the eye with a stick.
According to the complaint, the headmaster has a history of similar behaviour, frequently resorting to physical discipline against students.
The student’s father, Reyaz Ahmed Lone, reported that the headmaster instructed his son to claim the injury resulted from a fall in the washroom, the official said.
Meanwhile, another parent, Murtaza Baba, said, “We have received multiple complaints from our children. Sheikh not only neglects his teaching duties but also spends time managing a fish farm next to the school.”
