The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Friday established an Emergency Room (ER) at PHC Wakoora, Ganderbal which is a first of its kind at Primary Health Center (PHC) level across India.

The spokesman said Emergency Room has all the major life-saving equipment including Life pack 12 (Defibrillator), Cardiac Monitor, Portable ventilator, Vein finder and other emergency equipment. With such a facility at the PHC level, various Cardiac and Trauma emergencies can be managed at the said Institute on modern scientific lines.

In addition to the equipment and drugs, the Emergency Room will be manned by trained doctors and paramedics headed by Dr Ajaz Ahmad who is well versed with handling Trauma and Cardiac emergencies and is having international experience in this field.

Later, the Director Saleem ur Rehman interacted with the public delegation of Block Wakura who apprised him of other health services issues and requirements that need to be fulfilled. The Director assured them that all the issues will be resolved in a time-bound manner.
