After a pause of several hours heavy firing resumed Tuesday morning in Ratnipora Pulwama, where a gun battle broke out between government forces and militants on late last evening.
Massive exchange of fire is going on since morning as militants hiding in a paddy field in Rakh Lajura near Ratnipora continue to engage forces.
“The militants are hiding in a water drain in paddy fields near orchards while as the government forces have cordoned off the whole area including Ratnipora, Trich, Nadoo, Rakh Lajura,” a police source said. One SOG man has been injured so far at the encounter site.
Sources told Kashmir Life that intermittent firing started in morning after period of lull throughout the night. And clashes were going on between angry residents and government forces in several villages of Pulwama district where a cordon has been launched. Protest demonstrations were going on till the last reports came in.
