Police Tuesday afternoon said that both Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed in a gunfight with a joint party of SOG and army at Pulwama’s Ratnipora area.
While the body of one militant has been found, police said, the search for another militant’s body is going on amid cordon. One of the militants has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Lone of Pulwama’s Lelhar area.
Both the militants were trapped in the paddy fields. And to neutralise them, the locals said, army made use of chopper.
Notably, forces had surrounded Peer Mohalla of Ratnipora late Monday on a tip-off. Police said militants fired at a Rashtriya Rifles patrol team following which the operation was launched. The operation restarted Tuesday morning when forces intensified the cordon in the area.
The operation was still going on at the time of filing this report.
