Heightened Vigil Discussed in Review Ahead of Amit Shah’s Jammu Kashmir Tour

   

SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdi, chaired a joint security meeting at PCR Kashmir, attended by senior officials from the Police, Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, and intelligence agencies.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, the meeting aimed to assess and improve security arrangements ahead of the forthcoming VVIP visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Officers shared detailed plans concerning security for the visit. IGP Kashmir highlighted the need for high alert to address any possible threat.

He underlined the role of intelligence gathering, reinforcement of security at sensitive locations, and effective day and night area coverage. Focus was placed on securing key infrastructure and areas of concern, including the deployment of CI QRTs to enable prompt response to any incidents.

The IGP directed that security in both urban and rural areas be strengthened, with continuous patrolling and enhanced deployment at key entry and exit points. He also stressed the need to brief personnel on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain strict monitoring of vulnerable locations for early detection of any suspicious activity.

At the conclusion, officers reaffirmed their readiness to implement the measures with coordination and discipline. The IGP reiterated the shared responsibility of all forces to maintain security for the VVIP visit, as well as for residents and visitors in the region.

Those present included the IG BSF, IG CRPF (KOS), IG CRPF Srinagar, DIG CKR Srinagar, DIG ITBP, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, Col GS (IS) 15 Corps, SSP Traffic Rural, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Security Kashmir, SP CIK CID, SP APCR Kashmir, SP PC Srinagar, SP Telecommunication, and others. The DIG NKR, DIG SKR, all other SSsP of Kashmir Zone, and other senior officers participated virtually. (KNO)
