SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in South Kashmir.
“A police team from Police Station Srigufwara, at a checkpoint established at Chenar Crossing, Sirhama, intercepted a suspicious motorcyclist bearing registration number JK11C-0712. During the search, 300 grams of illicit cannabis powder concealed under the seat of the motorcycle was recovered. The accused was identified as Faizan Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh. Hassan Bhat, resident of Marhama. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has been seized,” police spokesperson said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a police team from Police Station Uttersoo, at a checkpoint established at Padderpora, Chittergul, intercepted a suspicious person. “During the search, approximately 250 grams of charas powder concealed in a polythene bag was recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Gulzar Ahmad Hajam, son of Nund Hajam, resident of Padderpora, Chittergul,” statement reads.
Both accused have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations and further investigation is underway.
