The accused, a resident of Vijaypur, was arrested from the Bari Brahmana area during the operation conducted on Thursday following specific intelligence inputs, the NCB said.

Officials said the joint team also seized a motorcycle allegedly being used in connection with the illegal activity.

An NCB spokesperson said the operation was carried out under “high-risk and hostile circumstances” and that the joint presence of the three agencies helped bring the situation under control despite resistance encountered during the action.

The seizure is the second major narcotics-related operation by the NCB in the Jammu region in the past three days.

On August 12, the agency had arrested another alleged drug peddler and recovered 438 grams of heroin from the Lower Ragoora area along the banks of the Tawi River in Jammu.

The latest seizure has prompted further investigation into the source of the suspected heroin and the alleged network involved in its transportation, officials said.
