Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), president Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that NC has always sold out the trust and confidence of the people of Kashmir for power and luxuries.
Addressing public meetings at Wadipora and Magam in Handwara constituency, she said since Omar Abdullah has nothing to show as his performance report to the people at the end of his tenure, he is resorting to lies and concocted stories to divert attention of people from the reality.
On this occasion party General Secretary Mohammad Dilawar Mir, chief spokesperson Naeem Akhtar, senior leader Gh Mohiudin Sofi, Mohd Shafi Dar, Gh Mohd and others were also present and spoke to the gathering.
Mehbooba said Omar Abdullah’s misrule stands out for atrocities, corruption and a complete collapse of administration. His rule began with the infamous Shopian incident in which two young women lost their life in tragic circumstances and Omar Abdullah not only hushed it up but protected those who had agitated for justice. 2010, was a nightmarish experience for the people of Jammu & Kashmir when one after the other 120 youngsters and children were killed without a single incident being investigated. Instead about 10 thousand FIRs were filed against those young people who had demanded justice.
2011 marked the death in mysterious circumstances of Haji Yousuf bringing out the stink of corruption not just within NC, but the Abdullah family and the manner in which even the mandate and ministerial jobs were bought and sold. In 2012, the historical Dastgeer Saheb shrine was burnt without the government even telling the people about its causes leading the people to believe that it was the handy work of construction mafia patronized and owned by the NC leaders.
In 2013 from Kishtawar to Markundal in Bandipore, Gool to Shopian witnessed merciless killing of innocents. Omar Abdullah govt thought of comforting its ears and those of elite connected with it, with the music in the Shalimar grarden, but created an atmosphere which resulted in to the killing of four innocents in Shopian. Instead of the people who killed four innocents in Gool, a moulvi was latter accused and put into jail. Omar Abdullah can’t even absolve himself of the hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru early this year. “Justice has never been subverted in any decent society as has been done in J&K under the NC govt,” Mehbooba said.
The PDP president said by way of “performance”, Omar Abdullah has only few things to his credit which include the introduction of chili grenades and pellet guns to be used against the Kashmir youth, who dare to raise their voice against injustice and misrule. His (Omar’s) tenure also stands out for imposing curfew on maximum days and imprisoning political opponents in their homes. Omar Abdullah govt also created record of sorts by reemploying more than 300 officers and others with heavy salaries and perks, while on the other hand denying wages to daily wagers, casual and seasonal workers. “His (Omar’s) govt has credited new deplorable record of detaining teenagers under PSA, while making hollow voices about revocation of draconian laws,” Mehbooba said adding the Chief Minister is resorting to lies by saying that the PDP had any truck with the BJP.
To solve the unemployment problems in the Abdullah family, NC, it is a known fact, has aligned with everybody in Delhi during the past, and it is no big deal for them to work with Modi. In1996, Farooq Abdullah took 60 assembly members and four parliament members and put them into the lap of BJP just getting his son a junior minister’s job. During that period, the Abullah’s handed over seven more feasible power projects to the NHPC, without getting anything substantial for the state. Blanket ban on government jobs was enforced and opening of new schools were also banned.
To add to the miseries of people STF was also formed. “Omar Abdullah has nothing to show as its performance. It is now people to see the truth as it,” Mehbooba said.
These days the entire Valley is reeling under complete darkness, even though, there has four fold increases in electricity tariff, over the last five years. As the winter is yet to start, there is shortage of LPG, ration and other essential commodities in the market. There is complete governance failure in the state and the rulers are resorting to non-issues to divert the public attention.
