SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Friday quashed the detention orders of Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi and Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, who were booked under the Public Safety Act in 2022.

The court on Friday directed the officials to release the religious clerics who were detained in September last year and later lodged at Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu, KNO reported

Two Bench judge of Justice Sanjay Dhar and Justice Rajnesh Oswal passed the judgement in the cases of both the Islamic scholars and ordered their release from the jail.

Both clerics have large following in the Kashmir Valley. While Dawoodi is the head of ‘Tehreek-e- Sout-ul Auliya’, Veeri is affiliated with Jamiat-Ahle-Hadees (JaH).
