Expressing deep anguish and concern over the present situation in valley National Conference (NC) Wednesday said, “Time has come now when government of India should take serious steps to abolish the much awaited and hated Armed Forces Special power act”.

Member Parliament and senior NC leader Mehboob beg said, “Under the grab of (AFSPA) security forces have enjoyed enough unbridled powers. Power without accountability is a dangerous weapon in the hands of forces who open fire at unarmed youth without any fear. If India claims that a great reduction is witnessed in infiltration and militancy in Kashmir then what is their point in continuing with this draconian law”? Asked beg while talking to KNS.

He further said, “When (GOI) speaks so confidently regarding the normalcy about Kashmir then people have every right to be given its full benefits also. If India claims to be a democratic country then continuing with such harsh law in J&K is not less than a tragedy. He said AFSPA and Kashmir issue are the main reason for India’s failure to get the membership in the UN Security Council.

Blaming India for  focusing on short term solution for Kashmir issue beg said, “Government of India sends its interlocutors for a temporary cooling effect only when it sees Kashmir burning and once situation becomes visibly under control it forgets everything and believes as if everything is alright here”.

Beg said, “In 2009 when the Rail at wanpu was to Flagg off Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at that very time warned Prime Minster and Sonia Gandhi that they should not misunderstand the apparently peaceful situation of Kashmir he urged for an immediate political solution to the sixty year old confilict. He had told them that any delay would yield only unfavourable consequences”.

He said, “I really believe that government and people of India should realize the status of Kashmir, and should understand that Kashmir’s have scarifies a lot and would continue their struggle till a proper political solution is not found”.

He said, “For NC Autonomy is the best solution to the Kashmir issue. We are fighting for Autonomy and we will continue our struggle in all the democratic forms.

Talking on Autonomy Beg said, “India should restore its Autonomy if its intentions are sincere towards the state. Justice Sageer report has also confirmed that Autonomy is a concrete document”.

Lashing out at BJP Beg said, “BJP has a strange double standard polices, it was Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of same BJP party who showed more seriousness than congress to resolve the Kashmir issue and now when they are in opposition ,they have turned a blind eye to the Kashmir conflict.
