Police on Monday claimed to have solved a hit-and-run case here by arresting the accused driver.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, on November 26,2018 ,a pedestrian was mowed down by an unknown vehicle at 90 feet road who was brought dead to SKIMS.

“The deceased was identified as Abdul Hameed Lone son of  Late Abdul Ahad Lone a resident of Shah-i- Hamdan Colony Ahmadnagar, Srinagar,” said police spokesman.

“During investigating at the accident spot, eye witnesses confirmed the vehicle as 207 Tata mobile white colour,” he said.

“During further investigation Police station Soura, scanned the CCTV footages from nearby ATM’s and shops to check the registration number of vehicle, however the footage couldn’t show much in detail,” the spokesman said.

“After indepth investigation, and help from various sources, the police was successful in locating the driver,” he added.

“The accused has been identified as Mehraj-u-din Shalbaf son of Ali Mohammed a resident of Umerhair Buchpora and vehicle registered as JK01M 2575,” said police spokesman.

“The police have taken the accused into custody for further proceedings,” the spokesman said.
