At least five CRPF personnel were injured when unidentified militants on Monday opened fire on their convoy on Srinagar-Jammu highway in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Militants fired at a CRPF bus, which was part of a convoy on way to Jammu from Srinagar, near Green Tunnel at Samthan in Bijbehara area, a police official said.

He said six CRPF men were injured in the attack.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital in Islamabad, the officer said, adding the area was cordoned off and a manhunt was launched to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen while claiming the responsibility of attack on CRPF Convoy in South Kashmir said that its “Border Squad” destroyed an Army post on Monday morning when they fired ‘107’ brand missile at Dara Sherkhan Tathapani in Poonch Sector.

Burhanuddin, spokesperson Hizb told CNS on phone that two to three militants targeted a CRPF convoy in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir on Monday. “At least 8 CRPF personnel were injured and most of them are battling for life in hospitals,” he said and appealed people to “maintain distance from Indian Security Bunkars, vehicles and deployment”.

“The militants in the field have been directed to intensify attacks on Indian Security establishments. The attacks will continue till India doesn’t leave Kashmir,” he said.

The Hizb spokesperson claimed that at least three Army personnel were killed and four were injured after Hizb militants launched a missile (107) attack on an Army post at Dara Sherkhan Tathapani in Poonch Sector of Jammu region. “The Army post was completely destroyed in the attack. Militants managed to reach their destination safely,” he said.
