Jammu and Kashmir Police issued a statement late Saturday night which is being produced verbatim for the interest of readers:
Today an unruly mob pelted stones on deployments in Zainakote on the outskirts of Srinagar city.
The deployed personnel used tear smoke shells to disperse the stone pelting mob.
In this action one person namely Gowhar Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmed resident of Mustafabad HMT was injured. He was shifted to hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
A magisterial probe has already been ordered to investigate into circumstances which led to the death of the deceased.
We regret the loss of life in this unfortunate incident.
