SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday lauded disaster response teams for safely rescuing around 300 tourists stranded mid-air after a technical fault halted the Gulmarg Gondola in north Kashmir.
In a post on X, Shah commended the efforts of the SDRF, NDRF, Army, local police and civil administration for carrying out the six-hour rescue operation, during which all passengers stranded in 65 cable cars were evacuated safely.
He said the nation saluted the disaster response forces for their valour and skill in ensuring the safe rescue of the stranded tourists.
Officials said the rescue operation was launched immediately after a technical snag developed in the cable car system on Monday afternoon, leaving several tourists suspended mid-air.
All stranded tourists were later brought to safety without any loss of life, officials added.
