The review meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, and attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Sundeep Chakravarthy along with senior officers from the transport, excise, drug control, police and civil administration departments.

The meeting assessed the impact of the 100-day anti-drug campaign being implemented under the Jammu and Kashmir Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and reviewed enforcement actions and preventive interventions undertaken across the district.

Officials informed the committee that intensified enforcement operations and coordinated action against drug peddling networks had yielded significant results. Besides the registration of 84 NDPS cases and arrest of 117 persons, authorities have suspended 100 driving licences and 46 vehicle registration certificates linked to NDPS-related violations.

The committee was also informed that licences of 17 chemists had been suspended for violations related to drug regulations and unauthorised handling of controlled substances. Red entries have also been recorded in revenue records against identified drug peddlers as part of legal and administrative action against repeat offenders.

Illegal properties worth nearly Rs 40 crore linked to drug trafficking networks have been attached or demolished as part of the ongoing crackdown, officials said.

The meeting also reviewed measures to intensify surveillance in identified hotspots, monitor repeat offenders, regulate pharmaceutical outlets and expand awareness programmes, counselling support and rehabilitation initiatives.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and intensify action against drug peddlers and trafficking networks. The SSP reiterated the police’s commitment to sustained action against narcotics-related activities and called for public cooperation in reporting drug-related offences.
