Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami on Friday visited the border area in R S Pura Sector in Jammu and reviewed the security situation after the recent firing along the Line of Control (LoC) between Indian and Pakistani troops.

Goswami, who visited the Octroi post at the International Border (IB) in R S Pura Sector, said the soldiers are vigilant and there are no successful infiltration attempts.

Goswami, who arrived here along with senior officials of the state and New Delhi, said the security has been beefed up all along the border and LoC.

The Home Secretary, who got a first-hand experience of the situation on the International Border, also interacted with senior Border Security Force (BSF) officials to know about the ground realities.

Meanwhile, curfew continued for the eighth day today in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar town.

Three persons were killed and a total of 68 shops, seven hotels and 35 vehicles damaged during the communal violence in Kishtwar.
