Union Home Secretary designate, Anil Goswami today took review of the overall security situation prevailing in the state, in a high level meeting here today.

The Union Home Secretary (Designate) who is on a visit to Valley today held a review meeting of officers to take stock of the security situation obtaining in Jammu & Kashmir, an official spokesman said. The meeting which was held at the Nehru Guest House here this afternoon was also attended by senior officers of civil administration, police, army, central security forces and intelligence agencies, he added.ANIL GOSWAMI-6

Sources told a local news agency, KNS that Goswami was apprised about the overall prevailing security scenario in the state. “Apart from the recent incidents of attacks on security forces the officers also apprised the home secretary designate about the attempts of infiltration from across the Line of Control”, the sources said. They said that apart from the security issues, various other issues related to overall peace and development were also discussed in the meeting. He was also briefed about various other proposals with regard to security, which were previously put on hold, the sources added. They said he was also briefed about the recent successes of the security agencies apart from overall preparation for the ongoing tourist season and Amarnath Yatra.

The Home Secretary designate was also accompanied by R K Srivastava, Joint Secretary Kashmir affairs in Union Home Ministry. Those who attended the meeting include Director General of Police Ashok Prasad, General Officer Commanding 15 Corps Gen Omr Prakas, Special DG CRPF, Joint Director IB, ADGP Armed, IGP Kashmir, IGP CID and IG BSF.

Meanwhile, the OSD-Union Home Secretary (Designate), called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan, here today.

“During their an hour and a half meeting, the Governor and Goswami discussed various important matters relating to the obtaining external security scenario, existing and emerging issues relating to internal security management and various other matters relating to securing sustained peace and normalcy in the State”, an official spokesman said.

He added that matters relating to the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra and certain issues relating to cross-LoC trade also came up for discussion during the meeting.
