The senior pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani despite being suffering on the account of his health was not released by the government and he continued to remain under house detention Friday. “He has decided to shift to Delhi so that he could have a detailed health check-up there and could freely practice over the advices of the doctors,” a Hurriyat Conference (g) statement said this evening.
“The house detention process of Geelani entered 6th year and this illegal confinement very badly impacted his health condition over these years and this condition is worsening day by day,” the statement said.
Terming the continuous detention of Geelani without any concrete reason as clear violation of the state constitution, Hurriyat Conference (g) spokesperson said, “this is not only an act of denying the right of freedom of expression but it is also an wicked attempt by India to kill the Kashmiri leader.”
“This year Geelani Sahab had decided not to go to Delhi and preferred to stay in Valley with his people but this experiment doesn’t work for him and artificial warmness in the closed room proved harmful for his health. Despite being under the house detention, Geelani sahab used to walk in his personal lawn in summer season but it wasn’t possible in cold season so his house confinement proved detrimental for his health and he is not keeping well with his health since last one and a half month,” the spokesperson said.
Geelani will leave for Delhi on 6 February, Saturday, and will return healthy with the grace of Almighty the spokesperson said.
Hurriyat Conference (g) appealed the people to pray for the early recovery of their leader.
