Srinagar

After coming across a news article highlighting the plight of a line man who had lost his arm due to an electric shock while performing his services, the members of Kashmir American Humane Society (KAHS), a California based NGO of Kashmiri expats donated funds to help the victim to get a prosthetic limb.

The line man Mohamamd Yasin Reshi had met the electrocution accident while working on a high-tension transmission wire in Abi Guzar area of Srinagar.

Reshi was evaluated and casted for a prosthetic arm at Shafaqat Rehabilitation Center (Voluntary Medicare Society) in Bemina. After a few follow up appointments with their Prosthetic and Orthotic department, Reshi now has a Prosthetic arm.

KAHS is headed by a Kashmir born Majid Butt based in Los Angeles.  Kashmir American Humane Society (KAHS) was founded around 2011 and since then, it has been developing and implementing projects that would help the needy people, especially in Kashmir.

While talking to Kashmir Life, Majid Butt thanked all the donors for their support including Prosthetist Parvaz Ahmad Bagdadi and his team for their “dedication in training Mohammed Yasin Reshi with the prosthetic arm.”
