Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday said that a module of “Harkatul-ul- Mujahideen (HuM) militant outfit was busted by arresting its five members”.
“It was reliably learnt that some militants are planning to carry out attacks on police and forces in and around Sopore and Baramulla on NHW,” JKP spokesperson said.
“Acting upon intelligence input a joint operation was conducted by Police Sopore and 52-RR in Sangrama area. During the operation the joint party nabbed two militants Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi @Umer son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Model Town Sopore, and Aijaz Ahmad Gojri @ Chota Kalimullah son Abdul Rehman Gojri resident of Old town old town Baramulla. Form their possession one Chinese Pistol, 01 pistol Magazine and two hand grenades and other ammunition was recovered,” the spokesperson said.
“Investigation led to the arrest of their three more associates Danish Gaffer Gojri @ Kalimullah son of Abdul Gaffar resident of Drangbal, Baramulla, Javaid Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Akbar Dar resident of Khanpora Baramulla and Mohammad Sameer Kandoo @ Sameer Baba son of Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Baba resident of Shalbaf Mohallah Anchar Soura Srinagar. It got further revealed that Danish Ahmad Gogri and Javaid Ahmad Dar joined the HuM militant outfit in September 2015. After they got motivated by local militant Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi @ Umer who was handled by Sajad Shaheen @ Sajad Afgani resident of Pak to rejunivate the HuM militant outfit in the valley.Both of them were in close touch with the said Sajad Afgani through social media,” the spokesperson added, “the militant Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi @ Umer was tasked to motivate youth to join the HuM militant outfit in the valley and as a part of which he introduced the above apprehended HuM cadres with his another associate Mohammad Sameer Kandoo @ Sammer Baba operating in Srinagar city and was planning attacks and as such was looking for opportunity to carry out militant attack particularly on police and security forces.”
The spokesperson said that investigation further revealed that on 5th November last year, Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi and Mohammad Sammer Kandoo hurled grenades on CRPF Bunker Safa-Kadal Naid-Kadal, Bilal Colony Soura and Police Station Khanyar. In furtherance the first week of December 2015 these two militants handed over 02 hand grenade to Ajaz Ahmad Gojri and Danish Gaffer with the directions to carry out grenade attacks on police and security forces and VVIPs on Srinagar- Baramulla highway. “Besides, this they had also planned to carry out IED blasts and stand-off firing at the busy markets of Baramulla and Sopore to show the existence of HuM outfit.”
Police have registered a case FIR No. 09/2016 under section 7/25 I.A Act has been registered in Police Station Tazoo and further investigation has been taken up.
