A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel injured during a “fidayeen militant attack” on Tuesday has succumbed, taking the death toll to three.

Two militants were killed and four security personnel injured when militants stormed 182 Bn BSF camp in Humhama area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Sources said that the injured BSF man succumbed to his injuries.

Police sources said that at around 4 am Tuesday morning, three Fidayeen attacked 182 BN BSF camp at Humhama alongside Srinagar International Airport.

“They threw Gernades and fired upon the Santry posts to sneak inside the camp. One fidayeen was gunned down at the main gate while as other two managed to enter Barrack number 07,” sources said.

They said that reinforcement was rushed to the spot and encounter started.

“Till the last reports one more militant was killed while as another is still holed up. The exchange of fire is going on. Three BSF personnel sustained injuries among them one later succumbed to injuries.”

Sources added that “Afzal Guru Squad” of Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed the responsibility of the attack.

“Morning flights at international airport were cancelled however Air Asia from Delhi landed at 10 am. The scheduled passengers have been allowed towards the airport.”

Meanwhile police sources said that some “miscreants” assembled at Humhama chowk and pelted stones upon the deployment. “They have also enforced the shut down in Ompora Budgam,” they said.
