Authorities on Saturday prevented a delegation of Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) led by Shabir Ahmad Shah to visit South Kashmir’s Pathribal area of Islamabad by arresting them at arresting them at Sangam.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the delegation was scheduled to express solidarity with the family of Pathribal encounter victims. They were also scheduled to pay tributes to Shaheed Javed Salfi at his Islamabad residence.
Those accompanying Shabir Shah included Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Wajhat Qureshi, Muhammad Yasin Ataai, Haroon Kashmiri and Bilal Ahmad Shah. The Hurriyat spokesperson while condemning their arrest said that to seek help from police and army in preventing the leaders to meet people is an autocratic act. He said if Omar Abdullah would be having a bit of sympathy with the Pathribal victims,he would not have arrested the Hurriyat leaders. Terming Omar Abdullah’s expressing of helplessness by shedding crocodile tears over Army’s closure of Pathribal case, the spokesperson said that by arresting the Hurriyat leader, Omar Abdullah has exposed his real face.
The conglomerate while expressing strong resentment over the Army decision on Chattisinghpora fake encounter said that Kashmiri nation never expected any justice on part of Army and its like minded institutions. “Such decisions vindicate our stand that India is an occupier of this land. That is why we demand complete freedom from its forcible occupation so as to secure our lives, honor, dignity and faith,” the spokesperson said. The amalgam also expressed solidarity with Chattisinghpora fake encounter victims.
Terming the closure of Chattisinghpora fake encounter case as murder of justice and worst example of bias Hurriyat Conference JK said such acts are not surprising to Kashmiri people. “We never expect any kind of justice from India or its so-called Army as we are witness to their brutalities since last 6 decades. Such acts on their part only strengthen our spirit of freedom.”
