A crucial meeting of Awami Action Committee attended by senior members, activists, and office bearers was held at the party’s head office a Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal which could not be attended by the party chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as he continues to under house arrest.

The spokesman said meeting expressed its strong resentment and anger against the government’s decision of caging Hurriyat (M) chairman time and again and not letting him out even on the auspicious occasion of Mehraj Alam (Night of Ascense) when Mirwaiz was to address the religious gathering at Aali Masjid which has been the tradition of Mirwaizeen since decades.

The meeting said that barring Mirwaiz to address the religious gathering left thousands of people disappointed and angry. The meeting termed barring Mirwaiz from carrying out his religious obligations as condemnable interference in his religious rights and the duties as the Mirwaiz.

The meeting termed the rape and murder of 8-year-old Asifa as gruesome and heart-wrenching and stated the demand of every segment of society of the state that culprits involved in Asifa case be hanged. The meeting made it clear that whether it is the issue of justice for Asifa or any issue related to injustice or harassment of the people of Jammu, Chenab Valley, Rajouri and Poonch the people of Kashmir and leadership will always stand with them.
