All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Saturday has hit out at the “ruling regime” and its forces for “their attitude towards the leadership, saying the state is virtually reeling under the martial law like situations. No law exists and fundamental rights have been trampled and leadership continue to be caged, said Hurriyat,

The spokesman in a statement said that Hurriyat strongly termed as “dictatorial” the decision of authorities to keep its chairman Syed Ali Geelani under continuous house detention.

It is a deliberate attempt to keep the leader away from masses,” Hurriyat said in a statement and added that Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Aga Syed Hassan Alsafvi, Gh Ahmad Gulzar, Bilal Sidiqi and Mohd Ashraf Laya are continuously under house detention.

Hurriyat expressed its serious concern over continuous detention and deteriorating  condition of its leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Dr Gh Mohd Bhat ,Altaf Ahmad Shah, Peer Saif Ullah, Ayaz Akbar , Meraj u Din Kalwal , Naeem Ahmad Khan , Shahid ul Islam ,Farooq Ahmad Dar , Zahoor Ahmad Watali ,Mohd Aslam Wani, Masarat Aalam Bhat, Mohd Yusuf Mir ,Gh Mohd Khan Sopori, Mir Hafeez Ullah, Mohd Yusuf Falahi, Ameer Hamza Shah, Rafiq Ahmad Gania, Shakil Ahmad yatoo and lifers including Dr Shafi Shariati, Dr Qassim Faktoo ,Maqsood Ahmad ,Gh Qadir Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad , Nazir Ahmad and others ,saying they are being subjected to vengeance  .

Hurriyat accused the authorities of persecuting them in every way possible and refusing to provide basic facilities like medical care and added that these detainees are being provided with sub-standard food.

Quoting reports from relatives of these detainees, Hurriyat said that they are even thrashed and subjected to mental torture.

Demanding an immediate release of all detainees, Hurriyat said that fake cases have been filed against these to prolong their detention and despite court orders, the authorities are detaining them on one pretext or the other.

Hurriyat in its statement said that Kashmiris know that that the ruling regime treats them as an enemy for demanding their political right and illegally and arbitrarily detains them in jails and detention centers but as per human and legal norms it is mandatory upon the government to provide these political prisoners basic human facilities and not mistreat abuse and punish them in prisons,” Hurriyat  said.

Hurriyat blamed PDP led coalition regime for unleashing a reign of terror and added that despite their rhetoric for freedom of expression, they have turned the state into a big jail and strangulating the genuine voices and people and resistance leaders are denied the political space.

Hurriyat while hailing the commitment and steadfastness of nation asked to pursue sacred mission with full devotion and asked ICRC, Asia Watch, Amnesty International and other Human Rights Organizations to come to the ‘rescue’ of these detainees and impress India to treat detainees as per charter laid by the international community.
