Hurriyat Conference (g) Executive Body (Majlis-i-Shoora) Wednesday held a meeting at Hyderpora under Syed Ali Geelani which despite the strict restrictions of the police was attended by the heads or the representatives of Democratic Freedom Party, Anjuman Share-i-Shian, Jammu Kashmir Employees Movement, National Front, Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir, Muslim Conference, Insaaf Party, Democratic Political Movement, Mass Movement, People’s Political League, People’s League and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat while as the representatives of the Tehreek-e-Mazahamat, Muslim League, Muslim Democratic League, Kashmir Freedom Front and Islamic Political Party were “forcibly stopped” from attending the meeting.

Article 35 A and the evil designs of the communal forces were thoroughly discussed in the meeting and a decision with regarding to the future course of action was also taken there after taking into consideration the opinions and suggestions of the members of the executive body,” a Hurriyat statement said.

Hurriyat (g) Chairperson Syed Ali Geelani strongly condemned the police restrictions on the meeting and said, “the restrictions over the political activities of the pro-freedom people has been further tightened and now the routine Hurriyat meetings are also being not allowed. It is practically a martial law in the state which the Mufti Sayeed and BJP coalition government has adopted.”

While referring to the “battle of Ideas” slogan of Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, Syed Ali Geelani said, “India and its agents can’t face us on the political turf. They are taking the help of the army and police to suppress our peaceful and genuine voices and this policy is badly affecting the situations in the state. It will further increase the political uncertainty and instability and alienation among the new generation of Kashmir.”

Syed Ali Geelani cautioned the government that if the restrictions on the peaceful political activities of the pro-freedom people continued, Hurriyat (g) will not remain silent over this and it will take steps to highlight the issue.

He said, “the policy makers of India under a well thought plan are working to divert the attention of Kashmiri people from their freedom struggle and to project it as communal clashes. Sometimes they make the issue of cow slaughtering, sometimes they allow Ahmadiyaas to hold conferences here and sometimes they raise other issue so that the people will fight with each other which will overshadow the atrocities and human rights violations committed by the Indian forces in Kashmir.”

Geelani said that the leadership and the nation have to “act with extra maturity and farsightedness” in this regard. “Instead of fighting the war on the choice of the enemy and reactionary politics, we have to generate our own capabilities to counter the opponent. We have to formulate such a strategy which will help us to further highlight the oppression and cruelty of the Indian Imperialism and we have to divert the attention of the whole world towards the Kashmir issue,” he said and added, “we are demanding Right to Self Determination for the entire population of Jammu & Kashmir whether they are Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs or any other community, they are all our brothers and the differences between the people of Kashmir will always benefit India not us.”

While commenting over the issue of Article 35-A, Syed Ali Geelani said, “New Delhi is hell-bent upon harming the disputed nature and special status of the Jammu & Kashmir and for this purpose, they have formulated a plan for changing the demography of the state. The links to this plan is the issues of issuing state subjects to the West Pakistan Refugees, creation of Sainik Colonies and settling of non-state subjects in Jammu & Kashmir belonging to the different states of India.”

He, however, said, “we will not allow this thing to happen in any way and at any cost and if any such attempt was made on the ground, the people will come on the roads and will start a strong agitation in this regard.”

In his presidential address, Syed Ali Geelani said, “all the local pro-Indian parties are alike and they are prolonging the slavery of Kashmiris. Their actual status is just of the paid agents who dance on the tunes of their masters who are sitting in New Delhi.”

“While commenting over the recent drama in the state assembly, the statement quoted Geelani as having said, “this assembly is not any serious institution and we don’t accept its legal and moral status. It has become the place of the greedy people who only want chair in whatever ways.”

He said that the real issue and the real problem of Kashmiris is the Kashmir dispute and all other issue are its offshoots but no one from the people sitting in the assembly is against this occupation but “they are advocators of this forced occupation”.
