SRINAGAR

Strongly condemning “threatening” of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Abdul Hameed Parray of Hajan by J&K police “that they will kill him”, continuous imprisonment of Hurriyat deputy secretary general Ghulam Nabi Sumji, arrest of Insaf Party chief Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and detaining him in police lockup and the continuous police raids on the residence of Abdul Gani Bhat Sopore, Chairperson Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Sunday said that the PDP-BJP government in Jammu & Kashmir has “created hostile environment in the state and the pro-freedom leadership is subjected to the political vengeance in every possible ways”.

In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani expressed his dismay over the shifting of Hurriyat Conference leaders Bilal Siddiqi and Hakeem Abdul Rasheed to the Srinagar central jail and demanded their immediate release.

Geelani cautioned those police officers who are subjecting the Hurriyat activists and the common youths to “custodial violence and are using abusive behaviour with them”.

“In the run of becoming more loyal than the king, these people cross their limits. They forget that they have to live in the same society and these stars will not remain forever with them,” he said.

“Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Abdul Hameed Parray was arrested by the Sumbal police some six months back and since then he is being shifted from one police station to another. During this entire period he was neither produced before any court and nor is the police giving any legal justification of his detention. According to the reports, a mentally retarded police officer had threatened Abdul Hameed Parray that he will either fabricate him in any false case or will kill him in a fake encounter. The said police officer is an Ikhwani type of terrorist who have made the lives of the people hell. This police officer had also misbehaved and tortured another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Retired Master Ali Mohammad and showed no respect for his old age,” Geelani said.

Geelani said that these types of “cruel people should remember that they can’t escape the torment of Almighty Allah and no power in the world can provide him shelter”.

Meanwhile, police arrested the Insaf Party chif Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and detained him in police lockup. Gulzar has been put up in the police station Shergarh and it is still not known that why was he arrested.

Geelani strongly condemned the detention of Gulzar Sahab and demanded his immediate release.

Chairman Hurriyat also took serious notice of the continuous imprisonment of Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Bilal Siddiqi and Hakeem Abdul Rasheed and said that the RSS backed PDP government has turned this state into a major jail.

The pro-freedom leader cautioned that the ban over the political activities is increasing the political uncertainty and the instability in the state.

While demanding the release of all the political prisoners before the Eid, Geelani said that the “Battle of Ideas” and the “Goli Nahi Boli” like slogans of PDP “proved to be a total hoax and this party has now become an offshoot of the RSS”.
