Apparently echoing the recent statement of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani wherein he had termed gun as an option for Kashmir’s resolution, MLA Langate Er Rashid today said the importance of gun in highlighting the Kashmir issue cannot be undermined.

Talking to Er Rashid said that the Kashmir issue was internationally highlighted because of the armed movement and that its role in the resolution cannot be ignored or undermined. “Before gun came to Kashmir, the senior Hurriyat leaders were participating in elections and it was the gun that invited India’s attention towards Kashmir problem.” Er Rashid further stated that he may hate the gun but its role cannot be ignored in Kashmir.

“Whenever India gets the feeler that guns have fallen silent, they turn blind-eye towards Kashmir issue but Kashmir issue can never be resolved unless you take gun wielding youth into confidence.”

Er Rashid further stated that the role of gun and its vitality cannot be judged by the common people like us and that whosoever lays his life for Kashmir knows its importance and relevance. “I don’t think we have even this right to debate over this issue because the people holding guns endanger their lives to keep Kashmir issue alive.”

The MLA Langate further mentioned that when in northeast, India has engaged militants in dialogue, why is it feeling ‘shy’ in admitting the role of gun in Kashmir.

Er Rashid said that the meaningful and result oriented dialogue can make the guns silent and that the UJC chief should be invited for the unconditional dialogue so that the proper strategy could be evolved for the resolution of the problem.
