Stating that the thaw between India and Pakistan would prove helpful for the resolution of Kashmir dispute, Huriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani said that he is not against India’s integrity and the stability of both the countries would help in the resolution of the ‘vexed’ issue.
According to the reports received by Kashmir News Service (KNS), Geelani while addressing people at Pulwama said that the people of Kashmir only demand their ‘birth right’ from the Indian union and that the people are neither against the country nor its people.
Geelani accused that the peaceful struggle of the people here is being suppressed by the violence and that the youth are left with no option but to explore other ways to keep the struggle against ‘oppression’ going. “I want to say that youth are being forced to tread the path of violence and their peaceful struggle is being suppressed with cruel and inhuman tactics.” The senior separatist further stated that ‘armed resistance’ is the part of the ongoing struggle against ‘tyranny’ and ‘oppression’.
Accusing a particular national news channel over what he termed indulging ‘in vicious propaganda’, Geelani said that one of the Indian news channel has initiated ‘tirade’ of propaganda’ against the Kashmir and its leaders.
Geelani further stated in his address that the pro-freedom leadership in Kashmir will not allow any division of Jammu and Kashmir on regional or communal basis, the senior separatist said that there are certain vested interests, who want to divide the state ethnically, or on the basis of language. “But we will always remain united for the just cause.” Geelani said that the resolution of Kashmir dispute is only possible when the people of the region are given their right to determine their future.
Urging people to observe complete boycott for the forth coming polls, Geelani said accused that all mainstream parties are the enemies of the Kashmir cause and that their hands must not be strengthened further. “NC, PDP, Congress or any other pro-India party plays vital role in suppressing Kashmir’s dissent and people must remain away from polls so that the world could know that people of Kashmir do not support the oppressors.”
Geelani while appealing youth to study Urdu and the literature associated with the subject said that the languages like Persian and Arabic are being eroded from Kashmir under planned strategy. “Our culture and tradition is being eroded under planned manner and conspiracies are being hatched to eradicate vital languages like Urdu, Arabic and Persian from the text books.” Geelani further appealed people not admit their wards in the ‘good will’ schools run the army here.
Geelani was accompanied by Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar and other senior leaders of the amalgam.
