Hurriyat (m) condemns house detention of Mirwaiz

Srinagar

Terming the continuous house detention of Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as political vendetta, the amalgam spokesman said that Mirwaiz was once again prevented from addressing the Friday congregation and prayers at historical Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

The spokesman said during the days of historical importance in Islamic calendar in which the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and the tragedy of Karbala has taken place, Mirwaiz in his address was going to throw light on the historic event.

The spokesman said Mirwaiz being the religious leader has certain responsibilities and his continuous house detention severely affects the social activities in the downtown in particular and other areas of Kashmir in general.

He said that as per the decades’ old practice, Mirwaiz was scheduled to address the religious gathering at Alam Sahab (RA) at Narawara on 10th Muharram (Sunday) wherein he will pay tributes to Imam Hussain (AS) and his contributions towards Islam besides throwing light on the entire episode of Karbala.
