The Hurriyat conference (M) delegation headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had interactions with various civil society members in Lahore and Islamabad.

After the conclusion of the official visit on December 22, Mirwaiz and his team met various non political organization members and the various civil society members in Islamabad and Lahore. During the meetings the Hurriyat delegation apprised them about the prevailing situation in Kashmir and urged them to play a role in its final resolution. “It is the time when people of Pakistan particularly the civil society should come forward and help Kashmiris in solving the problem”, the delegation told the civil society members. They also asked non political organizations and intellectuals to play a role in mobilizing the opinion regarding the inclusion of Kashmiri leadership in the dialogue.

Meanwhile senior executive leader Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat on Sunday met Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shabaz Shareef at his Model Town residence in Lahore. During the meeting Punjab CM assured Bhat for his support in resolving the dispute. However Shareef said that the dialogue was the only way forward for seeking the permanent settlement.

Later Prof. Bhat told KNS that during the meeting with Shabaz Shareef he stressed for the inclusion of Kashmiri leadership in the dialogue process. “I told him that Kashmiris were the most important factor of the dispute and no solution can be reached at without the inclusion of Kashmiris”, Bhat said.

The delegation is likely to meet some senators in the coming days.
