A ‘meeting’ (chance encounter) at a Jammu restaurant, between two Hurriyat (G) leaders and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) youth President Wednesday resulted in speculations in the political circles of restive Kashmir.

The ‘meeting’ according to reports was held at a Jammu hotel between Mohammad Altaf Shah, Mohammad Shafi Reshi of Hurriyat (G) and Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra of PDP. However both Hurriyat (G) and Parra refuted the reports of any meeting.

“I went to a Jammu Coffee house last evening where dozens of customers including some journalists were also present,” Parra told Kashmir Life adding “Mr Altaf and Mr Reshi too were there sitting on a different table, I even did not shook hands with them but I wonder how our exchange of greetings for a few seconds could be called a meeting.”

Hurriyat (G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar also told Kashmir Life that no meeting took place. “We investigated the reports and found that Mohammad Altaf Shah and Mohammad Shafi Reshi had a chance encounter with some PDP man,” Ayaz Akbar said adding “how can you call it a meeting”.
