Following the instructions of Hurriat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation led by the head of the public relations department of the conglomerate, Zaffar Akbar Bhat Wednesday visited the house of the martyr Shabir Ahmad Sheikh at Palhalan, Pattan in north Kashmir.
The hurriyat delegation paid flying tributes to the martyr besides expressing their heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family. Expressing solidarity with the family , Zaffar Akbar Bhat while addressing people said that hurriyat would continue to pursue for the cause for which Kashmiris have offered innumerable sacrifices. He said the blood of martyrs was an asset and APHC would continue to protect it till the goal for which sacrifices were offered reaches its logical end.
Zaffar Akbar Bhat said that Palhalan and Pattan has offered innumerable sacrifices for the cause and given birth to many notable resistance leaders and fighters.
The senior hurriyat leader also condemned the siege of Palhalan from past four days and wanton arrest of youth in the area. He demanded immediate release of the arrested youth. Zaffar Akbar Bhat also visited chanapora and condoled with the family of Rauf Rasool.
The APHC has strongly condemned the continous arrest of senior party leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan and slapping of infamous PSA against Mushtaqul Islam. The party said the authorties have let loose a reign of lawlessness in Kashmir and said pro-resistance leadership was being deliberately targeted.
The party has further sternly castigated despotic authorties for targeting two journalists- Mehboob Jilani and Zahid Mushatq- belonging to Asian Mail Newspaper. The party while deploring the police action of detaining and terrorising the journalists said this was a direct attack on the freedom of press. The party said the rights of the journalists excerising their right to express was being usurped and were punished for speaking truth, adding, it was highly undemocratic that journalists were being targeted for exposing the truth.
