Independent lawmaker Er Rasheed on Wednesday accused police of humiliating him for demanding the release of Langate youth detained under Public Safety Act.

Er Rasheed was in tears while talking to Kashmir Life over phone from Handwara Police station, “I am being abused and humiliated inside the police station. I don’t feel secure here.”

Earlier in the day, Er Rasheed began an indefinite hunger strike inside police station Handwara after he was arrested on his way to Kupwara.  He was scheduled to hold a peaceful indefinite hunger strike outside DC Office Kupwara against slapping of PSA on a local from Langate town of Kupwara district.

Earlier Er Rasheed also held a protest when three other youth from his constituency were slapped with PSA. He along with locals had blocked the highway in the area where he questioned the police officials about the grounds on which the youth were detained and slapped PSA.
