SRINAGAR

Independent lawmaker from Langate constituency of North Kashmir, Er Rashid Saturday expressed surprise, anger and anguish over the figures provided by Home department showing expenditure drawn through the state exchequer in order to provide security to him.

In a press statement, he strongly refuted receiving any fuel or cash for his personal or security vehicle during last three years directly or indirectly.

“It is unfortunate that an amount of Rs. 2,83,272  has been shown against my name for providing fuels on security reasons during last three years. It is a very serious matter that despite the fact known to every body that I am without any security or any official vehicle since last three years, how some white collar officers in the police deptt. have dared to mislead every body,” he said.

“It is obvious that the said amount would have gone in the pockets of those people who run the state like a public enterprise and leave no opportunity to loot the state exchequer,” he added.

Rashid warned the government to  investigate the matter and come clean on the issue, otherwise would take matter to court.

“None other than police authorities knows better that I am without any security or government vehicle since last three years and the top authorities in Home and Police Deptt. have on many occasions communicated to me to take security as well as BP car, which I have refused every time as a mark of protest against the behavior of police towards masses,” he said.

“As such question of showing even a single penny against my name through one way or other does not arise. He threatened to take matter to the court if govt. does not come clean over the issue,” he added.
