An iconic picture of Kashmir women atop Hari Parbhat Hill clicked by famed French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson in 1948, recently fetched  $32, 500 during an auction in New York recently.

Bresson came to India in 1947 and travelled to Kashmir, where he clicked women outside the mosque in Srinagar, and atop Sulaiman Parbat aka Hari Parbhat Hill.

During his visit to India Bresson met Mahatma Gandhi, 90 minutes before he was assassinated. He then covered his funeral. Pictures of Gandhi’s funeral along with photographs from his travels were up for sale during the auction.
