SRINAGAR: Initiative for Competition Promotion (ICP) Jammu and Kashmir invites applications for free residential coaching (with Hostel facility) for civil services (Preliminary-cum-Main) Exam–2021.
According to the statement, total seats available are 30 (Boys and Girls) and candidates who have graduated or are in the final year of graduation between 20-36 years of age may apply.
“The entrance test would be held at Srinagar tentatively on October 25, 2020,” reads the statement.
“The last date for submission of application forms is October 20, 2020, whereas the course will commence from the first week of November 2020,” it said.
“Written test would comprise General Studies (objective type) and essay writing in English to test candidate’s ability to express in an organized and structured manner,” it added.
The statement said that there would be negative marking for objective type questions in the test and one-third of the marks will be deducted for a wrong answer.
It said that the entrance test paper would be divided into two papers – Paper-I and Paper-II.
Paper-I would consist of objective type questions on General Studies including Polity, History, Geography, Economy, General Science, Environment, Aptitude and Current Affairs. There would be 60 questions and the total marks for this section would be 60.
Paper-II would consist of Essay writing on topics from different areas including Economy, Politics, Science & Technology and Environment for which the total allotted marks would be 60.
“The total time allotted for both the papers would be two hours, one hour each. However the OMR sheet would be collected after one hour,” it said, adding that based on the performance in paper 1, only 120 meritorious candidates (1:4) will be evaluated for paper 2.
It said that based on the cumulative performance of Paper 1 & 2, only 60 (1:2) meritorious candidates will be called for the interview/Personality test.
“The total marks for Interview/Personality test would be 30. Thus, the candidates will be evaluated out of total 150 marks,” it added.
“Coaching will include (a) classes on General Studies, CSAT and selected optional papers (b) Test series, answer’s evaluation and Essay writing practice shall form part of the program. 24×7 Library facility shall be provided,” said the statement issued by ICP.
The statement said that the hostel accommodation, that is compulsory but free, shall be provided to all the admitted students. Only monthly mess charges and electricity charges shall be borne by the candidates.
“Interested candidate may WhatsApp at 97978 21434 for registration. Aspirants may note that this exam is only for selecting candidates for Residential Program. Classwork and Test Series as and when conducted, likely from the first week of November, is free for all on first come first serve basis,” said the statement.
