SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a supplementary charge sheet against two accused persons, who as per them attempted to execute an IED explosion in public places in Jammu city.

In a statement the NIA spokesman said the agency had filed a supplementary charge sheet against two accused persons from Kashmir, who on behest of their Pakistan based handlers of proscribed outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), a frontal organization of proscribed militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), had attempted to execute an IED explosion in a public place in Jammu area.

The accused were identified as Fayaz Ahmed Khan s/o Mohammad Afzal Khan resident of Anantnag and Tawseef Ahmed Wani s/o late Mohammed Maqbool Wani of Kreeri, district Baramulla.

The spokesman said the case was initially registered as FIR No. 234/ 2021 at PS Bahu Fort, Jammu, and taken over by NIA on 19.07.2021.

“The case pertains to the recovery of an IED from accused Nadeem-ul -Haq from Bhatindi, Jammu, who on behest of his Pakistan based handlers of TRF, had attempted to execute an IED explosion in a public place in Jammu area,” he said.

The agency spokesman further said investigation has unearthed a larger conspiracy hatched by the Pakistani handlers of TRF, involved in recruitment and planning to activate a significant number of radicalized youth through social media platforms to target security personnel and public places with an intention to wage war against the government of India.

A charge sheet was earlier filed by NIA against three accused persons on 22.12.2021, he said.

“Investigation has established that accused persons Khan and Wani are members of TRF, who in connivance with their Pakistani handlers of TRF were involved in spreading the subversive activities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
