SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar on Friday chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to assess preparedness for the forthcoming International Film Festival.
The meeting focused on security arrangements at festival venues and along designated routes, besides measures for crowd management, traffic regulation, surveillance, access control and emergency response.
Senior officers from Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces, intelligence agencies and the civil administration attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Kumar reviewed deployment plans and directed officers to ensure adequate and strategically planned deployment at all identified venues in view of the expected movement of visitors, participants, dignitaries and other stakeholders.
He also called for thorough route clearance and appropriate deployment of Road Opening Parties along designated routes to ensure secure and uninterrupted movement during the festival.
The IGP directed officers to regulate entry and exit points, strengthen crowd management measures and ensure smooth movement of people around festival venues. He also stressed the need for effective traffic management plans and adequate deployment at vulnerable and congested points to minimise inconvenience to the public.
Kumar emphasised close coordination and real-time sharing of information among all participating agencies, directing officers to maintain heightened alertness and strengthen surveillance throughout the event.
He also called for preventive measures to be put in place well in advance to ensure a safe environment for visitors and participants.
The meeting concluded with a detailed review of the preparedness measures and directions to further strengthen coordination among the agencies involved in the conduct of the festival.
