SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi, on Monday chaired a high-level joint security review meeting at the Police Control Room, Srinagar, to assess the security preparedness for upcoming events and ensure seamless coordination among various forces operating in the region.
The meeting witnessed participation from senior officers across multiple security and intelligence agencies, including IG BSF, IG KOS CRPF, IG CRPF Srinagar Sector, DIGs of CKR, ITBP, CRPF North and South, SSB, RPF, and BSF, as well as SSPs from Srinagar, Budgam, Railways, APCR, Traffic City, CID CIK, Security, and SDRF Kashmir. Col GoS (IS 15 Corps), DC SB, SP Cargo, SP Telecommunication Kashmir, and AD IB Srinagar also attended.
DIGs of South and North Kashmir Ranges, along with all district SSPs from across the Kashmir Zone, joined the meeting virtually.
IGP Birdi called for heightened vigilance in light of potential threats, urging officers to strengthen the intelligence grid, secure sensitive areas, and ensure thorough area domination through intensified patrolling and increased visibility at strategic locations.
He stressed strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enhanced surveillance, and robust emergency preparedness. Underscoring the importance of synergy among security and intelligence units, he directed all agencies to ensure effective inter-agency coordination.
Concluding the meeting, IGP Birdi reiterated the need for a unified and proactive approach to guarantee the safe and smooth conduct of high-profile events across the Union Territory.
