SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Sujit Kumar on Monday chaired a security review-cum-traffic management meeting with multiple stakeholders to review the security grid in Srinagar city and address traffic congestion at key choking points.
The meeting, held at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, was attended by senior officers from the police, traffic police, CRPF and intelligence agencies, including the DIG Traffic Jammu, DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar, DIG Traffic Kashmir, DIGs of CRPF North and South Srinagar, DIG CRPF Operations Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and other senior officers.
During the meeting, officers briefed the IGP on the prevailing security situation in their respective areas and put forward suggestions to strengthen security arrangements and improve traffic management.
The existing security grid and deployment of personnel across Srinagar were reviewed, with particular focus on realigning naka points wherever required to improve security coverage while reducing traffic congestion.
The IGP directed officers to ensure effective security arrangements across intra-zone, inter-zone, inter-district and peripheral areas.
He also called for strengthening check posts at the entry and exit points of Srinagar city and stressed seamless coordination and real-time information sharing among the Traffic Police, District Police and naka points for effective monitoring and quick response.
Kumar further emphasised the use of technology for better traffic regulation, surveillance, coordination and information sharing.
The meeting concluded with directions for continuous review and close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure effective security and traffic management while minimising inconvenience to commuters.
