IGP Kashmir Swayam Prakash Pani on Sunday visited Handwara and held interaction with the officials at District Police Lines Handwara.

DIG NKR Sunil Gupta and SSP Handwara Ghulam Jeelani along with other officers of the District were also present.

A police spokesperson in a statement said that while addressing the gathering of officials and Jawans at DPL, IGP stressed on the officials and jawans to adopt a people-friendly attitude while disbursing their duties so that police-public relations could get a fillip in right direction which eventually will help police in better understanding of the problems faced by people and the speedy disposal of their grievances.

“IGP also emphasized on the officials and Jawans to ensure accountability for the actions and to disburse their responsibilities with due care and caution. He also opined about the importance and need for transparency in the functioning of police and emphasized the role and utility of the modern technology in ushering transparency in the functioning of Police Department. He stressed on the officials for the adoption of modern technology for better and transparent policing which is result-oriented and people friendly,” the spokesman said.

Also welfare measures initiated by the department for the Jawans were discussed.

“Separately the IGP visited Handwara Police Station and made a casual inspection there. The functioning of the CCTNS project of the police station was reviewed. Pertinent to mention that Police Station Handwara is one among the several other police stations in Valley, which have started updating their work on the online platform,” the spokesman said.
