SRINAGAR: Police and the Sub-Divisional Administration Khansahib on Friday launched a joint enforcement drive against illegal brick kilns operating without mandatory permissions and clearances in various areas of the sub-division.
The operation was led by SDM Khansahib Jahangir Ahmad Giri and SDPO Khansahib Sakib Gani, along with Tehsildar Khansahib Moin Azhar Kakroo, concerned SHOs and other officials.
During inspections, the team identified brick kilns operating without valid permissions and requisite clearances. The operators were directed to immediately halt operations and were warned against continuing any activity in violation of government rules.
The operators were also instructed to clear all dues owed to labourers, disengage them from the sites and completely shut down operations within a day.
The administration warned that failure to comply would invite strict legal and administrative action, including demolition or removal of illegal structures and assets established in violation of the law.
Officials said the enforcement drive was aimed at ensuring compliance with regulations, protecting public resources and maintaining environmental and administrative discipline in the sub-division.
The Sub-Divisional Administration said no unauthorised brick kiln activity would be allowed in Khansahib and warned violators of strict action under applicable laws.
