Despite the High Court directions not to allow coaching centers without adequate facilities, dozens of tuition centers are being run in Jammu division with authorities just overlooking to take action.

Official sources said that the Directorate of Education Jammu had given permission to only 20 coaching centers which had facilities as per the court and the government’s guidelines in Samba, Udhampur and Ramban districts.

“15 coaching centers were authorised to operate in district Samba, five in Udhampur and only one in Ramban district,” official told KNS.

However, sources said that several coaching centers are run in the regions, with officials concerned failing to stop them from their operation.

“In district Ramban, two unauthorised coaching centers are running without having adequate facilities,” sources said.

The Chief Education Officer, Ramban, Sharief Ahmad told KNS that only one coaching center, Shah Asrar Science Academy has official permission to tutor students from Class 9 to 12.

Ahmad said that he will take actions against unauthorised coaching centers in his jurisdiction.

“It has come into my notice that unauthorised coaching centers are being run here. I will take action and seize these centers from being run,” the CEO said.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Bashir Ahmad told KNS that he will ask the CEO to take action against the coaching centers which don’t have the permission from competent authority.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court had in 2014 asked the government to close down the coaching centers which don’t provide adequate academic, and infrastructure facilities to the students who avail tuition.
