Case of smuggling of costly drugs along with weapons came to light when in a joint Army and J & K Police operation, a Tata Sumo was caught carrying over one kilogram of Brown Sugar along with a pistol and two magazines through Tangdhar market on Wednesday.
Based on specific intelligence, a joint check post was established by Army and J & K Police at Tangdhar Town. Tata Sumo Number JK 09C-6684 was caught carrying a pistol and two magazines along with 1.1 Kg of Brown Sugar, tied with the road spring of the left tyre. Driver of the Tata Sumo Illiyas Malik r/o Hajitra alongwith the Tata Sumo and the recoveries were handed over to the local police. Sale of the drug caught in the operations would have fetched huge sum to the smugglers. The source and the network of smuggling is being investigated by the Police.
