SRINAGAR: Police on Friday seized eight tippers, one tractor and one JCB involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals across Police District Handwara.
According to police, the seizure followed coordinated enforcement drives carried out by teams from various police stations, acting on specific inputs. The vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid documents, violating the Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016.
Legal action has been initiated against the violators, police said, adding that strict enforcement measures will continue in the coming days.
Police have urged the public to report any illegal mining activities to nearby police stations or through official channels.
