Bhaderwah

Forest Protection Force and territorial staff of Bhaderwah has seized a large quantity of illegal timber during separate raids in Neeru and Charalla range of forest division Bhaderwah .

Acting on a complaint, Forest Protection Force Team along with territorial staff of Neeru forest range conducted a raid at compartment no 52 of Bhaderwah and seized 75.17 cft of wooden logs while as in compartment no 36 in Charalla range they seized 142 cft approximately.

For the last one week, the forest protection force and forest department have seized 400 feet illegal timber in various forest ranges of Bhaderwah which clearly indicates the intensity at which these smugglers are looting green gold. Bhaderwah division is witnessing ruthless deforestation as timber mafias are active in cutting prized Deodar and Kail trees in the forests.

Locals told Kashmir Life that heavy damage is being caused by the smugglers to the green treasure in forest range.

“The cutting of green trees from the forests is not only ruining the natural beauty of the famous tourist destinations of the District Doda but also badly affecting the environment,” they said.

They alleged that the forest officials are in nexus with smugglers.
