One load carrier bearing registration number JK01V 7803 was seized in Dardpora village of north Kashmir’s Lolab on the intervening night of July 13 and 14. The vehicle was carrying timber illicitly felled by smugglers.
The driver escaped from the scene taking advantage of darkness leaving behind vehicle loaded with at least 40 feet illegal timber.
DFO Kamraj Zahid Aslam Mughal told Kashmir life, a team of officials have been deputed to the area to investigate and ascertain the facts.
“After proper investigation, the team will submit the report to my office and accordingly stern action will be taken against those involved,” the DFO said.
“A case has been registered and further investigations have been taken up to identify and trace the smugglers,” an official from police station Lalpora said.
