Imtiaz, people who knew him, was a resident of Sonawar locality and was living in a nuclear family with his wife and two daughters. His wife is a homemaker. He had contracted Covid-19 and had taken ill for barely 24 hours. He is reported to have died because of cardiac arrest. Barring some small disability in one hand, his friends said he was healthy throughout. He was around 55.

Imtiaz Ahmad Wani was appointed in JK Bank in 1990. Presently he was a senior executive posted by moving secretariat branch of the bank. He was posted in Jammu with the durbar and recently travelled to Srinagar for reopening the branch in the Srinagar secretariat.

A bank official rang up Kashmir Life saying Imtiaz Sahab was the second in command and not the manager but had a vital role because he would usually be in communication with the government on the branch business and other issues. “Posted in Moving secretariat branch for several years, he was considered key functionary to maintain the relationship with various government departments,” the official said. “Famous among top bureaucrats, he had a knack for keeping people in good humour and resultantly managing a healthy relationship. Reportedly he has four children, two along them are specially-abled.”

The Jammu and Kashmir Bank fraternity is in shock over the killings. “Shocking, we have served together at b.u Zaldagar 20 years back. He often used to make others smile in his own humorous style. May Allah Pak place him in Jannatul Firdous,” one of his subordinates wrote. “My dearest friend. Allah imtiyaz sahab koo janatul ul firdous atta farmaya. He was a helpful person.”

Earlier in the day, the bank lost Kundu in a Gurgaon hospital, reports said. Though living in Jammu, he was posted in Delhi. Not many details were immediately known about Kundu.
