At Duderhama, the Chief Minister dedicated the newly completed Community Marriage Hall to the public. Built for Rs 4.15 crore, the hall is intended to serve as an affordable and accessible venue for weddings and other community functions. The project addresses a long-standing demand of the area’s residents, many of whom attended the inaugural event.

“This marriage hall is not just a building, but a step toward making community life more inclusive and accessible,” Omar Abdullah said, emphasising the government’s commitment to building infrastructure that enhances social well-being.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a steel trussed girder bridge over Nallah Sindh at Ahanger Mohalla, Gadoora. The Rs 7.56 crore bridge, once completed, will connect the settlements on either side of the waterway and improve mobility for local residents.

“Bridges don’t just connect places, they connect people and opportunities,” Omar said. “This bridge will significantly improve access, reduce travel time, and ensure smoother mobility for residents.”

Senior district officials, engineers from the Public Works Department, and a large number of locals were present at both events. Residents expressed their appreciation for what they called long-overdue infrastructure support from the government.
